Love to travel but don’t want to break the bank? These destinations offer incredible experiences at super affordable prices.
1. Thailand
Thailand is where my travel journey began, and it’s still one of the best budget destinations. You can get by on $25-35 per day with cheap guesthouses, $1 street food, and local transport. Even splurging a bit, you won’t spend more than $60 daily. From stunning beaches to buzzing cities, Thailand is a must-visit.
2. Central America
For epic adventures without the crowds, head to Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, or Honduras. You’ll find $15-35 hotels, $5 meals, and $1 beers—a backpacker’s dream. Belize and Costa Rica are pricier but still affordable compared to other tropical getaways.
3. Cambodia
Cheaper than Thailand but just as breathtaking, Cambodia offers $25 air-conditioned rooms, $2-5 street food, and $20 cross-country transport. You’ll find rich history, beautiful landscapes, and some of the friendliest people. Don’t miss Angkor Wat—totally worth the splurge!
4. The Balkans
Europe on a budget? Head to Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina, or Bulgaria. At $45 per day, you’ll enjoy cheap wine, epic hikes, stunning coastlines, and vibrant nightlife. It’s one of Europe’s best-kept secrets—but not for long!
5. China
Big cities like Beijing and Shanghai are affordable, but the real savings happen inland. Hostels cost under $20, street food is $2-5, and local transport is under $1. With endless sights and adventures, China is a budget-friendly powerhouse.
6. India
A dream for budget travelers, India lets you live well for under $30 per day. Guesthouses are cheap, trains are affordable, and local food is delicious and inexpensive. Even major attractions like the Taj Mahal ($13 entry) won’t dent your wallet.
7. Vietnam
Vietnam is a paradise for budget travelers, offering $1 street food, $10-20 hotels, and $10 transport between cities. From the bustling streets of Hanoi to the stunning landscapes of Ha Long Bay, it’s one of the best-value destinations in the world. Plus, the coffee is amazing!
8. Portugal
One of Western Europe’s most affordable destinations, Portugal offers stunning beaches, delicious food, and rich culture. Lisbon has gotten pricier, but head outside the city, and you can still enjoy $50-60 per day. It’s also a perfect winter escape!
